Get found for EV chargers, panel upgrades and generators
High-value electrical jobs are separate searches. Build one clear page for each, with your permit steps, your towns and your proof.
A homeowner who just bought an electric car searches for “EV charger installation.” Someone with an old fuse box searches for “panel upgrade.” After a storm, people look up “whole home generator.”
Each of those is its own search, and each one is a bigger ticket than a dead outlet. If your website has one page that says “residential electrical services,” you are asking Google to guess.
Why one page per job works
Google says local results depend on relevance, distance and prominence. Relevance means how well your profile and pages match what someone is looking for. A page about EV charger installs is a far better match for an EV charger search than a general services page.
What to put on each page
Use the same simple outline for every high-value job. Write it the way you would explain it to a homeowner at the kitchen table.
- What the job is, in one or two plain sentences.
- Who it is for: “You just bought an EV.” “Your panel is full or still uses fuses.” “Your power goes out every winter.”
- How it works with you: site visit, written quote, permit, install, inspection, cleanup.
- Where you work: the cities and towns, by name.
- Proof: photos of real installs you did, a few reviews that mention this job, and your license.
- Short answers to common questions, like whether the homeowner needs a permit or a panel upgrade first.
Be clear about permits
The Department of Energy’s guide to home charging says charging equipment installations must follow local and state codes, and that permits may be required from local building authorities. It also says a qualified electrician can add circuits for Level 2 charging.
Homeowners worry about permits. Say how you handle them:
- Who pulls the permit
- Whether the price includes it
- What the inspection step looks like
Don’t promise how a specific inspector will rule. Explain your process and stop there.
Show your license the way your state does
Electrical licensing rules come from states and sometimes cities, so they differ from place to place. NECA keeps a guide to state regulations and licensing for this reason. Show your license number and type the way your state lists it, so a homeowner can look it up.
Match your Google profile to your pages
Your Google Business Profile should tell the same story as your site:
- Category: Google says to pick a specific category that describes your business as a whole, and not to add a category for every service.
- Services: add each high-value job as a service, using the same words as your page titles.
- Photos: upload real photos of panels, chargers and generators you installed. Google lists photos and videos among its tips.
Mistakes that cost big jobs
- Stock photos. A homeowner spending real money wants to see your work.
- No towns on the page. “Serving the area” tells nobody anything.
- Burying the phone number. Put a call button at the top of every job page.
- Copying another company’s page. It reads wrong, and it describes someone else’s work.
Your checklist
- One page each for EV chargers, panel upgrades, generators and service calls
- Every page names your towns and shows a call button at the top
- Permit and inspection steps explained in plain words
- License number shown the way your state lists it
- Profile services match your page titles
- Real photos on every page and on your profile
